Axe man with Pearl Jam, Mike McCready has teamed up with singer-songwriter KT Tunstall and Leah Julius from Thunderpussy to record a version of the late Tom Petty’s classic track, ‘I Won’t Back Down.’ The single and video is available for your lovely ears below…
The musicians have released a video for the song which contains images of protests from around the globe. The cover release is to raise funds for Pearl Jam’s Vitalogy Foundation. McCready also produced the track. Tunstall, sings and plays acoustic guitar, bass, keyboard and percussion and Julius plays drums on the song.
The Vitalogy Foundation is a nonprofit body that was founded in 2006 by Pearl Jam and their manager. The organisation raises money to promote positive change in the areas of environment, community health, arts and education and social change. ‘I Won’t Back Down’ originally appeared on Petty’s 1989 debut solo album Full Moon Fever.
