Simple Plan have covered Elton John’s classic track ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’.
The cover which you can check out below, was originally released by Elton John from The Lion King in 1994.
This new cover was also released by Simple Plan in collaboration with Disney, which is reportedly part of a major project titled: ‘A Whole New Sound’, which will feature new covers of iconic songs which were written for Disney films.
A release date for ‘A Whole New Sound’ has yet to be confirmed, while it also remains unknown who else will feature on this covers album.
Simple Plan On “overwhelming” Disney Collaboration
This cover from Simple Plan also comes as The Lion King marks its 30th anniversary this year.
Speaking to Billboard, Simple Plan said this of their cover of ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’.
“When Disney reached out to us to be a part of this project, it was a bit overwhelming because there are so many amazing Disney songs. But it became obvious pretty quickly that The Lion King song book, and especially ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight,’ stood out from the rest”, the band said.
“The song just has such a classic feel, and the melodies are so memorable and timeless. We also felt like it would lend itself really well to our style and would sound awesome as a pop-punk version”.

News of this cover from Simple Plan, comes weeks after it was confirmed that Elton John’s new documentary will air at the Toronto Film Festival later this year.
This new doc Elton John: Never Too Late, which will air at the festival in September, promises to “pull back the curtain” on the singer’s life, featuring “never-before-seen concert footage of him over the past 50 years, as well as hand-written journals and present-day footage of him and his family”.
