David Bowie's ‘Beat Of Your Drum 2018’, is the latest posthumous release from the music legend. The track is a new version of Bowie’s 1987 single of the same name. It's streaming below. It is released on a new limited edition 7“ picture disc, which also includes a reworking of ‘Zeroes’.
Both songs are lifted from the remastered version of 1987 record. ‘Never Let Me Down’, which is due for release in the forthcoming ‘Loving The Alien’ box set. Producer Mario McNulty said of the re-working, "‘Beat Of Your Drum’, that David Torn’s ambient guitars start the song that now lead into a much darker world than its shiny predecessor. David sang all the backing vocals on this which I have kept.”
The remastered version of the song signals a new production of Bowie’s final ‘solo’ record of the ‘80s – set for release as part of the ‘Loving The Alien’ box set on October 12th.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed last week that a Bowie-themed cocktail bar will open in London later this month. Named ‘Ziggy’s’, in honour of the star’s much-revered persona Ziggy Stardust, it opens on September 20th at the Hotel Café Royal.
The bar serves a number of drinks inspired by the late icon’s 1972 album ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars‘, and are titled after his lyrics.
