Ireland continues to have the lowest divorce rate in the European Union.
New figures from Eurostat for 2019 show that just 0.7 divorces were registered here per 1,000 people, a figure equalled only by Malta.
While Luxembourg had the highest divorce rate at 3.1 per 1,000 people.
According to Tim Hayes of the European Commission, overall trends suggest that marriage is not as popular as it once was.
