Gardaí are appealing for road users to be vigilant as roadworks are set to begin on the M7 Motorway and will last until 2020.

Temporary speed limits are in place, with a 60Kph speed limit being applied between junction nine and 10 for the moment.

Limits will change as works progress, but the speed limits will apply 24/7 and not just at certain times of the day.

Gardaí have said: "Our primary focus is on preservation of life, reducing the obvious danger to workers on site and to all road users."

So far, one motorist has already been arrested for driving at 141Kph in the new 60Kph zone, as Gardaí reinforce that there will be repercussions.

As a result of the road works there will be no hard shoulder in place on parts of the M7 motorway, making it difficult for emergency services to attend incidents that may occur.

An Garda Síochána have released a video on their Facebook page which highlights the issues involved in the works and encourage people to be careful on approach.

When I'm not at my desk you'll find me hiding behind a lens, a book or attending GAA games across the country. If not, I'll be busy complaining about the weather!

Also – I’m a festival lover, so when the summers out I spend most of my time nestled in the sweaty trench of any concert hall that will let me in the doors...

Standard and basic – enjoy :)
