Building at the biggest social housing development in the country is underway.
The Land Development Agency has secured a major site in Baldoyle, north Dublin, with planning permission for nearly 2,000 homes, paving the way for a significant expansion of affordable housing in the area.
The newly acquired 18-hectare site, formerly part of "The Coast" housing development, sits adjacent to the LDA’s existing landholding in Clongriffin. With this addition, the agency now has the potential to deliver more than 4,000 new homes near Clongriffin train station.
The Baldoyle site will feature crucial infrastructure, including new parks, transport facilities, creche services, commercial units, and permanent access to the station, enhancing community amenities. Located east of Clongriffin station, it is surrounded by existing residential areas in Stapolin and Baldoyle, with scenic views of Ireland’s Eye, Howth, and the Irish Sea.
Meanwhile, work has already begun on the first phase of the Clongriffin development, where 408 homes are under construction in two apartment blocks. Overall, the Clongriffin site has the potential to deliver over 2,000 homes.
