A man has been arrested and charged after spitting at a garda yesterday in Moneymore, Drogheda.
At the time gardaí were responding to a separate incident at around 3.30pm where a man in his 20s was arrested, after he was reported to be in possession of a knife.
The man was taken into custody following a foot chase.
While he was being arrested it’s claimed a second man interfered with the arrest, and then began to spit at the garda.
He was arrested and taken to Drogheda Garda Station and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The man has since been charged and is due to appear before Dundalk District Court this morning at 10.30am.
The man in his 20s associated with the initial incident that gardaí were attending is also due in Court this morning.
