A man has been arrested after an incident of criminal damage at Dublin Airport this morning.

Airport police responded to an incident at Terminal 1 after a man missed his flight and caused damage to a gate.

Gardaí say a man in his 20s has been charged and will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin.

Dublin Airport has tweeted to say it hopes the justice system deals with the incident and that it never sees the man at the airport again.

Footage of the incident circulating on social media shows the man at Gate 107 in Terminal 1, topless and wearing a mask, throwing and kicking out.

The incident took place at around 7.20am this morning.

“The passenger arrived at the airport intoxicated, missed his flight and proceeded to cause significant damage to our airport. The individual was quickly apprehended by Airport Police before being subsequently arrested by An Garda Síochána and is scheduled to appear in court later today.

"We hope the justice system deals with him appropriately.”
