A 29-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with a violent incident in Stoneybatter, that left multiple people injured over the weekend.
Gabrial Fereira Motta Valladares, who turned 29 yesterday, has been charged with assaulting two men, causing them harm, as well as possession of a scissors and a box cutter knife.
The court heard that emergency services were called to Stoneybatter on Sunday afternoon following reports of attacks at multiple locations, where three people were injured.
During his court appearance, Valladares appeared distressed, made noises as he entered, and cried throughout the hearing. A Portuguese interpreter was required as he is originally from Brazil and has an address at Broadstone Avenue in Dublin 7.
His solicitor, Michael French, told the judge that Valladares had been seen twice by a doctor while in custody and requested immediate medical attention for his client. The accused also responded to one of the assault charges, saying, "I was afraid to be killed."
No application for bail was made, and the judge remanded him in custody. He is due to appear in court again next week.
