A man has appeared in court, charged with assault causing serious harm in Lucan.
This follows the death of another man in Dublin.
49-year-old Juris Kokenbergs was found dead at a home in Lucan on Monday.
Shortly after 8am on Monday, Gardaí responded to reports of an incident at a house at Old Bridge Park.
33-year-old Tomas Cypas of Foxborough Road, Lucan, was arrested at the scene for questioning in connection with the incident.
Mr. Cypas appeared before Blanchardstown District Court today.
The judge was told he had been charged shortly before 11 o’clock last night, with one count of assault causing serious harm.
The court heard he made no reply to the charge, and that Mr. Kokenbergs had suffered multiple injuries to his head and face.
A preliminary post-mortem exam shows he died from blunt force trauma to his head.
An objection was made against an application for bail based on the serious nature of the charge.
Mr. Cypas has been remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Tuesday the 5th of November.
