A man in his 20s remains in custody this morning after three people were injured in a stabbing attack in Dublin.

It happened in the Stoneybatter area yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services responded to calls between half 2 and 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. They attended the scene of an attack on Oxmantown Road, as well as Carnew Street, and a third at a house on Niall Street.

Three men had been attacked and brought to hospital. Two of the men were treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A man was arrested a short time later on nearby Manor Street. He is being held at a Garda station in the north of the city.

Gardaí continue to appeal for information, and conducted door to door inquiries yesterday asking for any potential phone or doorbell footage.

The new Justice Minister, Jim O'Callaghan is praising emergency services for their swift response.
