A man in his 20s has been shot in west Dublin this evening. He remains in a critical condition.
The shooting occurred at around 5pm in the Briarswood area, near Blakestown Road.
The victim is reported to have been sitting in a car in traffic when a gunman ran up and shot him. Gardaí and ambulance personnel rushed to the scene and the man received treatment there.
A car was located on fire nearby. Both areas are closed pending a forensic examination.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them at Blanchardstown Garda Station.
