Police in New Hampshire have issued a warrant for the arrest of shock-rocker, Marilyn Manson, on two counts of assault. The rocker faces charges on two counts of Class A misdemeanour simple assault, involving a videographer at his concert in 2019.
Gilford Police Department allege the assault happened during a concert Manson performed in at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion. According to their statement, the videographer, who had been hired to film the concert, was located in the stage pit area when the alleged assaults took place.
Police have said Manson and his representatives “have been aware of the warrant for some time”, with the musician yet to return to the state. If Manson is found guilty of the charges, he could face almost a year in prison and a fine of around £1,400 (€1,621.52).
Gilford Police wrote a statement on May 25th, stating “the alleged assaults are not sexual in nature as has been asked by several other media outlets due to a number of other allegations made against Mr. Warner”.
Howard King, lawyer of Manson, said anyone who has attended his client’s gigs in the past would know “that he likes to be provocative on stage, especially in front of a camera.” He states that the “misdemeanour” claim was pursued “after we received a demand from a venue videographer for more than $35,000”. The videographer claimed to have been caught by “a small amount of spit came into contact with their arm”.
“After we asked for evidence of any alleged damages, we never received a reply,” revealed Manson’s lawyer. “This whole claim is ludicrous, but we remain committed to cooperating with authorities, as we have done throughout.”
2021 has been a turbulent year for the Disposable Teens singer, with several women, including his former partner Evan Rachel Wood, publicly accusing Manson of sexual abuse and misconduct, which the star has denied.
Manson has been sued twice over allegations of sexual assault, most recently by his former assistant, Ashley Walters. In April, he was sued by actor Esmé Bianco over allegations of sexual assault, physical abuse and human trafficking. Manson has denied the allegations made by both Walters and Bianco, with his lawyer King calling the claims by Bianco “provably false”.
