Mark Hoppus has admitted that keeping news regarding Tom DeLonge’s return to the band for this upcoming tour has been a “burden”.
Yesterday, Blink-182 announced a major UK and European Tour, which will see the famous trio take in shows in Belfast and Dublin.
The tour will begin in March 2023, and run right through until Feburary 2024.
Hoppus and co will take to the stage across Latin America, North America, Europe Austrailia and New Zealand.
This tour will also include live performances at Belfast’s SSE Arena on 4 September 2023, and Dublin’s 3Arena the following day.
Tickets for the shows will be available on Friday 17 October at 10am via the band’s official website and Ticketmaster.
Hoppus, Barker and DeLonge will reunited for the first time in almost 10 years.
It Was A Weight “lifted off my shoulders” – Hoppus
Following this, Mark Hoppus has stated that it is a relief that the news of the line up’s return is out in the public domain.
“I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders,” he told the Apple Music show After School Radio. “That was a burden to carry that secret for so long”.
Hoppus used a recent interaction with fan, as an example of his struggles to keep the news in house.
While attending a baseball game in Los Angeles, a fan asked for a photo with Hoppus, before asking the musician if there was “any way at all”.
“I’m like, ‘Any way for what?’”, Hoppus continued. “He’s like, ‘Is there any chance of a Blink-182 reunion tour with Tom back in the band at all?’ He had such hope and desperation in his eyes, and I just wanted to put my hand on his shoulder and say, ‘My friend, just you wait. Just wait three, four more days”.
“I should have taken his name and should have just posted it on Instagram, [and] been like, ‘This is for you, Steve! Great idea!’”.
