Dublin’s Mater Hospital says an email inviting staff to mass with up to 55 attendees was sent out in error and should not have happened.
Staff were told earlier that mass would be held at the Mater Chapel on March 24th to remember colleagues and loved ones who have died.
The hospital says the email mistakenly said it would be open to up to 55 staff to attend in person, which would have gone against Covid-19 guidelines.
The message was recalled as soon as the error was discovered and the staff Mass will now be held online.
A spokesperson for thr hospital stated that its “number one priority is patient and staff safety“.
“The Mater adheres strictly to all government guidelines relating to Covid-19 restrictions as well as its own rigorous infection prevention and control measures.
“An email was sent to staff earlier today relating to a mass which will be held in the hospital chapel later this month to remember colleagues and loved ones who have passed away.
“The email stated erroneously that this would be open to up to 55 staff to attend in person. This should not have happened“.
