Matt Cameron has denied rumours that he is to become the next Foo Fighters drummer.
The Pearl Jam sticksman dismissed these rumours via Instagram, after a story had broken via the Sun that he was to replace Taylor Hawkins.
Rumours had spread that Cameron and Angel & Airwaves drummer Atom Willard were to deputise on the drums for Foo Fighters’ Summer shows in Canada and the US.
“The Foos have been working with a number of musicians close to Taylor and the band over the past few months”, a source had revealed. “Matt and Atom are front runners to drum at the gigs, the first of which is in May”.
“Primarily it will be Matt but Atom will be on rotation with him. They have both been rehearsing at Studio 606, the Foos’ studio”.
“the rumours are false” Says Cameron
However, Cameron has since taken to Instagram to deny these rumours.
“Primarily it will be Matt but Atom will be on rotation with him. They have both been rehearsing at Studio 606, the Foos’ studio”, Cameron said.
Atom Willard has yet to comment on the matter, while Foo Fighters have not released an official statement.
Taylor Hawkins passed away last March aged 50, and last week Belgian rock band Black Box Revelation joined forces with 100 drummers to release a special cover of Foo Fighters’ hit ‘My Hero’.
“Taylor Hawkins was the best drummer of our times. Honouring him with this tribute was an experience we will never forget”, Black Box Revelation said in a statement.
On of the drummers participating in this performance, Gino Kesteloot also added that it was “wonderful to honour our hero in this way”.
“It’s the first time I played together with 100 other drummers. It sounded great, I even got goosebumps all over my body! Wonderful to honour our hero this way”, Kesteloot said.
