Conor McGregor has turned to acting with his debut role set to be in the impending Amazon Prime release Road House. A newly leaked trailer has emerged online.
The Crumlin cruncher appears to have a somewhat broader role than one might expect with the leaked trailer establishing the MMA fighter up as the crash, bang wallop villain.
The remake shows star Jake Gyllenhaal reprising a role, once helmed by Patrick Swayze in the 80’s and the MMA fighter crossing the rubicon from the octagon to the silver screen.
An ex-UFC fighter, a hard-up Dalton played by Gyllenhaal takes a job as a bouncer at the titular road house on the Florida Keys only to learn how grim it actually is.
McGregor is as brash as you’d expect as a hired gun set out to to threaten Dalton and the movie’s main villain.
At once bawdy and full of bravura the proponent of Proper 12 bawls “Hey fellas, looks like you’re having a smashing night!” using a golf club to inflict gratuitous violence
Doug Liman directs the movie having had a stellar career behind the camera with The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow and Mr and Mrs Smith to name but a few.
The 2024 version of Road House will be released globally on Prime Video on 21 March.
