Metallica have donated $500,000 to the relief efforts of the LA wildfires.
This comes, as the wildfires continue to take hold across Los Angeles with more than 150,000 people forced to evacuate their homes, and at least 24 people killed, and a further 16 people missing.
Thousands of homes, schools and business have also been destroyed as the fires continued to take hold in the city.
Numerous celebrities have also lost their homes due to these fires, including Billy Crystal, Anthony Hopkins, Mark Hamill and others. More on this from Nova here.
Footage of these tragic events was also shared by Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan. More on this here.
Following this, Metallica announced that they have donated $500,000 to the relief efforts, via their All Within My Hands Foundation.
The money is to be split between two organisations, California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and the Pasadena Community Foundation’s Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund.
“In the past week, the community has suffered at least 24 lives lost, nearly 100,000 people under evacuation orders, 40,000 acres burned, and more than 12,000 structures—commercial and residential—destroyed. However, numbers cannot articulate the magnitude of anguish as the disaster upends families and dismantles livelihoods", the band said in a statement.
