Kirk Hammett is to release a new book exploring his guitar collection and music career.

The book which is titled, The Collection: Kirk Hamett, will look back on the Metallica guitarist's career in music, as well as impressive fender collection, including a 1979 Flying V and 'Greeny' - a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard, which was previously owned by Thin Lizzy's Gary Moore, and Fleetwood Mac legend, Peter Green.

This 400 page book will be published in three formats, a standard edition, deluxe edition (limited to 1,500 copies), as well as a custom edition (limited to 300 copies). Both the deluxe and custom editions are also signed by Hammett.

It will also include interviews conducted by Mark Agnesi, and Chris Vinniecombe, photography taken at locations in Hawaii and Los Angeles by photographer, Ross Halfin. It will also include rarer images from the archives.

"worked diligently"

Confirming the release of this book, Kirk Hammett released this statement.

“I’ve worked diligently on this curated collection of vintage and modern guitars for the book,” Hammett said. “I feel the book captures the rich history and artistry behind each of these unique and rare instruments. Every picture tells a story and thanks to Ross Halfin and his exceptional photography, every picture in this book is worth a million words".

This release is also accompanied by a video narrated by Aquaman star Jason Momoa.

“Every guitar has a story, and the thrill of finding the right one can be as electrifying as any song it will play. Collecting is an obsession, a passion, and a neverending quest for discovering the perfect tone. No one knows this more than Kirk Hammett", the actor said.

Back in January, Hammett's band Metallica donated $500,000 to the relief efforts of the LA wildfires, splitting the money between two organisations, California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and the Pasadena Community Foundation’s Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund.
