Micheal Martin has become Taoiseach again, after his nomination in the Dail this afternoon.

The vote came after discussions with all parties this morning, to iron out issues, which led to four suspensions of the Dail yesterday.

Mr Martin was elected on a vote of 96 in favour to 76 against.

His party Fianna Fáil is the largest in the Dáil, and struck a coalition deal with its old rival-turned-partner, Fine Gael, on 14 January, along with a loose formation of regional independents.

Micheal Martin as Taoiseach once before, between 2020-2022, during a previous coalition between Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and the Greens.

After the vote, he made his way to Aras an Uachtaráin, to collect his seal of office from President, Michael D.Higgins, and will arrive back at Government Buildings, where his cabinet will be revealed to the Dail.

There has been continued dissatisfaction among opposition TD's that the Dail will now be in recess for a further two weeks, so that Ministers can adapt to life in their new departments.
