The mystery surrounding Arctic Monkeys’ drummer Matt Helders’ injury during the making of the band’s new album ‘AM’ has been revealed.
The band had to draft in Elvis Costello’s drummer Pete Thomas for some of the ‘AM’ sessions after Helders injured his hand.
In a new interview with Q, Helders said it happened after he punched a wall in a drunken incident.
The drummer said the injury “wasn’t a result of a fist fight with someone….I didn’t hurt anybody, except for myself. It was… a bizarre incident… with a wall… that was harder than I expected.
Helders now has a plate in his hand, which is due to be taken out in a few months. Let’s hope he can still use his sticks!
