While on stage at the Oscars' ceremony, Morgan Freeman paid tribute to fellow actor and close friend Gene Hackman, who passed away last week aged 95.
The two time Oscar winner died, after he was found dead at his home in New Mexico, along with his wife Betsy Arakawa and their dog. Hackman was renowned for his roles in films The French Connection, The Royal Tenebaums, and Unforgiven among others.
While on stage at the Dolby Theatre, Morgan Freeman paid this moving tribute to Gene Hackman.
"I had the pleasure of working with Gene Hackman on two films, Unforgiven and Under Suspicion", Freeman told the audience.
The Shawshank Redemption star also called Hackman a "generous performer", while also stating that he "won the hearts of film lovers around the world".
Freeman also referred to Hackman, stating that he wanted to do "good work" in film, adding: "You'll be remembered for that, and so much more".
Gene Hackman who passed away aged 95, was remembered as part of the ceremony's In Memoriam segment, which also displayed images of Joan Plowright, Maggie Smith, Donald Sutherland, Shelley Duvall, Kris Kristofferson, David Lynch, James Earl Jones, and Hackman, among others.
The actor's body was found at his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, according to a statement from the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Department.
