The mother of murdered gunman Tristan Sherry says she did not recognise her son when asked to identify his body.
Sentencing hearings are underway for three men found guilty of Mr Sherry’s murder before the Special Criminal Court.
Tristan Sherry was murdered after he shot Jason Hennessy Snr in Browne’s Steakhouse in Blanchardstown on Christmas Eve 2023. Mr Hennessy later died from his injuries.
23-year-old Michael Andrecutt, of Sheephill Avenue, Blanchardstown, David Amah who’s 19 and of Hazel Grove, Portrane Road, Donabate, and an 18 year old man who can’t be identified for legal reasons, were convicted of Mr Sherry’s murder. Three others have also been convicted for different offences related to the same case.
In her victim impact statement, Tristan’s mother Mary Hand said she told doctors ‘that’s not my son’ after being brought to identify him, adding that she couldn’t recognise him. She says she’s taking 8 tablets a night to help her relax, while she’s terrified of living in Blanchardstown.
His sister Savannah says she and her mother have had to move house twice, adding that life is ‘quite lonely’ since Tristan died, and that she ‘no longer trusts people’.
The sentencing hearing continues.
