A short documentary on the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy features music from Foo Fighters and Gaslight Anthem – scroll down to watch it.
Foo Fighters’ ‘Home’ and The Gaslight Anthem’s ‘National Anthem’ appear on the soundtrack, along with a track by singer-songwriter Cary Brothers’ ‘Take Your Time’, Billboard reports. The film short also includes original music written by Mike Mushok, best known as guitarist for Massachusetts rockers Staind. The artists all licensed their music free of charge, in support of the documentary’s cause.
The film – titled ‘Beach 119’ – focuses on the lives of the residents of Beach 119th Street in New York’s Rockaway Peninsula. “This documentary is to give these survivors a voice to tell their story,” Marcie Allen, the film’s co-director said. “‘Beach 119’ is a story of humanity. Strangers came together in a time of need.”
Allen worked with co-director Jessica Beutler on the film. They both work at music industry agency MAC Presents, which currently counts The Rolling Stones on its client list. At the end of last year, The Stones were one of the artists who played the 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy benefit gig at New York’s Madison Square Gardens. Others on the bill included Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Kanye West and Coldplay singer Chris Martin.
