Many of the big names in the music world have taken to social media to pay their respects to the icon that was David Bowie. The world lost one of its true innovators as Bowie passed away yesterday aged 69 after an 18 month battle with cancer.
Bowie recently released a new album titled Blackstar last Friday which was the day of his 69th birthday. Little did we know he was battling cancer at the time and he passed away peacefully on January 10th.
Among those who paid their respects to David Bowie were The Pixies, Savages, Yannis Philippakis from Foals, Blur's Graham Coxon and Kasabain to name a few.

The news of his death didn't just shake the music world, many people from other fields also paid their respects. The British Prime Minster David Cameron paid tribute to Bowie as well as comedian Ricky Gervais.
When the news came out that Bowie had passed away many people were in disbelief and thought it was a hoax of some sort. However, the official Bowie Facebook page later confirmed the news which was followed by Bowie's son Duncan Jones tweeting "Very sorry and sad to say it's true. I'll be offline for a while. Love to all."
David Bowie transcended his own medium and for his innovation and ingenuity he will be sorely missed by all. In tribute to Bowie, his classic track 'Heroes' can be heard down below.
