Neil Young and Crazy Horse have cancelled the remainder of 'The Love Earth Tour' dates due to an unexpected illness.
The ‘Heart of Gold’ singer and his band took to his website, ‘Neil Young Archives’, on the 26th of June to announce the unfortunate circumstances.
They open the blog post, expressing their gratitude, “The ‘Love Earth’ tour has been a great experience for us so far. GREAT AUDIENCES AND MUSIC. WE HAVE HAD A BLAST!”
“When a couple of us got sick after Detroit’s Pine Knob, we had to stop,” the band writes. “We are still not fully recovered, so sadly our great tour will have a big unplanned break.”
They continue the blog post, saying “We will try to play some of the dates we miss as time passes when we are ready to rock again! We know many of you made travel plans and we apologise for the inconvenience. Thanks for your understanding and patience. Health is #1. We want to stay and do more shows and more albums for you… and for us.”
The post was signed off at the end by Neil Young, guitarist Micah Nelson, the son of famous musician Willie Nelson, drummer Ralph Molina, and bassist Billy Talbot.
Neil Young first recruited the band back in 1969 to help record his second studio album ‘Everybody Knows This is Nowhere’. Since then the band has been inseparable.
The Love Earth Tour kicked off in April and was meant to resume in Toronto on the 8th of July and end on the 29th of September in Los Angeles, California. Refund details or information on rescheduled dates have yet to be announced.
The band was also set to headline at 'Ohana Festival' in California on the 28th of September. The festival took to social media to announce that the band will no longer be performing.
The unfortunate announcement comes ahead of the release of Young and his band’s new archival album ‘Early Days’, which is set to release on the 28th of June.
