A new documentary focusing on singer Billy Joel, is to premiere on HBO this Summer.
Directed by Susan Lacy, this two part documentary will look at the life and music career of the Piano Man singer, exploring the issues of love, loss and personal struggles which have been at the backbone of his song-writing.
Billy Joel: And So It Goes, will featured previously unseen performances, personal photographs, home movies, as well as one to one interviews. It will also be produced by co-director Jessica Levin alongside Susan Lacy.
“For those who think they know Joel’s story, as well as those who are not as familiar, I believe this two-part film is both a revelation and a surprise", Lacy told Deadline. I was drawn to his story as someone who knew little at the outset, and was astounded at how autobiographical his songs are and how complex his story is. We are gratified that Bill trusted us with his story, which we have told as honestly as possible, diving into territory which has not been explored before".
News of this comes after Billy Joel was forced to postpone several live shows due to medical issues. Despite this, Joel did assure fans that tickets purchased for any postponed shows would remain valid for the rescheduled dates. More on this from Nova here.
