Bruce Springsteen’s “Western Stars” is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) this autumn.
The festival runs from September 5-15, and the full schedule will be announced on August 20th.
The movie is a concert performance by Springsteen, we get to see the New Jersey rock legend play tracks from his highly acclaimed latest album.
The film also offers an insight into what it’s all about living the life of a rock star in the context of the American dream.
This unique, intimate and personal concert film is co-directed by Thom Zimny and by Springsteen himself.
Ron Aniello multi-instrumentalist produced the film and it was mainly recorded at Springsteen’s home studio in New Jersey.
The album “Western Stars” includes appearances by Patti Scialfa, David Sancious, Charlie Giordano and Soozie Tyrell, among many others.
According to antimusic.com Bruce has spoken about where he is in his career at the moment, he said the music:
“is a return to my solo recordings featuring character-driven songs and sweeping cinematic orchestral arrangements. It’s a jewel box of a record.”
