Disney+ have dropped the first trailer for their upcoming career-spanning Elton John documentary. You can check it out below.

This documentary will look at John’s incredible rise to fame, as well as the difficult periods in his life, including drug addiction, and his subsequent journey to sobriety.

The documentary titled, Elton John: Never Too Late, is to premiere on December 13 on Disney+.

In the trailer which you can check out below, Elton John can be heard saying: “At that time, there was an emptiness within me. My soul had gone dark, I had gone dark. I wasn’t a joy to be around. I didn’t have anything apart from my success and my drugs”.

This comes after Elton John’s documentary also premiered at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this month.

It was directed by RJ Cutler and Elton John’s husband David Furnish, who had previously co-directed Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: The Final Elton John Performances and the Years That Made His Legend.

Last week, Elton John also praised Irish post-punk band Fontaines D.C, who called them “the best band out there at the moment”.

This comes after the band appeared on his show, Rocket Hour via Apple Music, where he interviewed their frontman Grian Chatten.

“For me, you’re the best band out there at the moment”, Elton said in his introduction of the group on his show.

“Having watched you at Glastonbury, having heard the new album, you’ve just grown every album”, he told Chatten. “You seem to have found your feet with this album in such a big way…it’s a brilliant record”.

He also added:  “I think this album takes you – and I’ve been around for a long time – to a different level, and it’s going to stay around for a long, long time. But what’s more important about it: the music is really, really, really special. Congratulations on everything, Grian. It’s bloody wonderful”.
