A new biopic about the late singer Marianne Faithfull is in the works.
The film, is to be directed by Zaida Bergroth, starring Freya Allan as the late pop star, who passed away back in January. It will also see British actor Jojo Macari portray Faithfull's ex boyfriend and Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger.
'Faithfull' is to also be produced by Julia Taylor-Stanley of Artemis Films, and Finnish producer Roosa Toivonen, who is also from the same homeland as Zaida Bergroth. A previous Marianne Faithfull documentary had been the works, but later fell through, according to Taylor-Stanley.
Both Taylor-Johnson and Bergroth also co-wrote the screen play for 'Faithfull'.
A synopsis for 'Faithfull' reads the following: “From angel-innocent pop icon, actress of stage and screen and long-time muse and girlfriend of Mick Jagger, to homelessness, addiction, and ignominy".
“Faithfull” will depict Marianne Faithfull’s rollercoaster ride from the brightest lights of the wild 1960s of her youth, to fallen golden girl and then her remarkable phoenix-like rise and resurgence”.
The synopsis also adds that the film “establishes her as one of the great icons and true artists of our time".
