Nikita Hand has won her civil legal action against MMA fighter Conor McGregor, whom she accused of raping her in a Dublin hotel on December 9, 2018.
During the trial Hand described a brutal rape at the hands of McGregor. She told the jury he pinned her on a bed in the penthouse suite after she rejected his sexual advances.
“He was not taking no for an answer," she said, “And the more I struggled, the more he liked it." He denied it, claiming they had “fully consensual sex,” but the jury rejected his version of events.
Following eight days of evidence the jury of eight women and four men spent six hours and 10 minutes deliberating before returning with its verdict and awarded her almost €250,000 in damages.
McGregor shook his head after the jury read out that Ms Hand had won her case against him. He was accompanied by his his partner Dee Devlin, parents, sister, mother and brother-in-law.
Hand, 35, cried and was hugged by her partner and supporters when the verdict was announced.
She also says she wanted to show her daughter, and every other girl and boy, you can stand up for yourself if something happens to you.
