It's been revealed that the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain would have liked a career as a solo performer.
According to the NME, Danny Goldberg Nirvana’s former manager revealed that Kurt Cobain had thought about expanding his music career as a solo artist.
Goldberg who managed the Seattle based band for four years in the early ’90s knew that Cobain was interested in going solo. It's reported that he had mentioned it many times and went as far as setting up a recording session with Michael Stipe frontman of R.E.M.
However, Cobain never showed up. Goldberg spoke about the late Kurt Cobain to The Independent, “I think he [Cobain] would’ve found different ways of expressing himself, sometimes with the band and sometimes not.”
Goldberg also dismissed the claims that Cobain had been murdered as incredulous: “He killed himself. I saw him the week beforehand, he was depressed. He tried to kill himself six weeks earlier, he’d talked and written about suicide a lot, he was on drugs, he got a gun."
Goldberg understands that the loss of such an iconic figure as Cobain was a great tragedy in people’s lives but he doesn’t understand why there has to be so much speculation about his death.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Cobain’s death.
