Noel Gallagher has joined forces with Manchester City, sharing a new kit inspired by the band’s album ‘Definitely Maybe’.
A new kit has been designed by lifelong City fan Gallagher, which will be worn by the team at different stages during the 2024/2025 season. It is part of a new deal with PUMA.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Oasis’ release of ‘Definitely Maybe’, which includes hits, ‘Live Forever’, ‘Supersonic’, and ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Star’.
It also comes as Oasis announced their return with a major UK and Ireland tour next year, which includes two shows at Croke Park next August. More on this from Nova here.
“Definitely City”
This kit includes a special-edition jersey which features a light straw base colour with bold blue side panels.
The sleeves have subtle pink detailing on the cuffs and panels, with intricate outlines of marine blue supersonic waves.
It will also form part of a wider ‘Definitely Maybe’ collection with a track jacket and pants, bomber jacket, over-shirt, polo shirt, drill top and retro jersey. More on this here.
Pep Guardiola’s side will wear this kit for the first time when they face Inter Milan at the Eithiad Stadium on September 18.
“its real”
On this new collaboration, Noel Gallagher had this to say.
“I loved City before anything, I was into City before I was into music, I was into City before I knew what music was. ‘Definitely Maybe’ is what set us on our way, the record lasting as long, you can’t predict that kind of thing. It’s a great working class, Mancunian record – it’s real”, the musician stated.
He also added: “When PUMA approached us at one of the games about designing a kit it took about five seconds to agree to it. It’s the same colour palette as the cover of ‘Definitely Maybe’: it’s unique but it’s definitely striking, and I think it looks great. When you see people representing your Club, it’s important that they look good”.
“‘Definitely Maybe’ has never lost its magic to me, I just think it’s an amazing snapshot of what we were about. With the anniversary, I’ve been listening to it a lot more than I would ever listen to it, it makes me smile – they were great times. It’s spawned a great football kit, its legacy lives on”.
“a celebration of Manchester City’s ongoing journey”
These replica jerseys will be made using completely recycled material, aside from trims and decorations.
On this kit, Marco Mueller who is PUMA’s Senior Head of Product Line Management Teamsport Apparel, also said: “The 24/25 Definitely City kit is not just a piece of sportswear; it’s a celebration of Manchester City’s ongoing journey and a tribute to a cultural phenomenon that resonates with fans around the world”.
“We’ve combined cutting-edge technology with a design that honours both the Club’s heritage and the legacy of ‘Definitely Maybe’”.
Ahead of Oasis’ tour, it had also been reported that Liam Gallagher’s son Gene is to support the band on these run of shows. More on this here.
