Noel Gallagher has broken his silence on the ticket chaos for the upcoming Oasis reunion tour, as well as sharing his favourite tracks from the band.
When tickets for these shows were first announced last August, Oasis had confirmed plans to join forces with resale platform, Twickets, in a measure to combat touts from reselling tickets for inflated prices. The band also released a statement, saying that tickets sold for profit on other sites would be cancelled.
When they eventually went up for sale, some tickets ended up on secondary tickets sites for prices including £10,000, which saw Oasis writing the following message: “We have noticed people attempting to sell tickets on the secondary market since the start of the pre-sale. Please note, tickets can ONLY be resold, at face value, via Ticketmaster and Twickets".
Ticketmaster later led a crackdown on touts, which included cancelling thousands of tickets. However, many fans had claimed that they were wrongfully targeted.
Now, in a new interview with photographer, Kevin Commins, Noel Gallagher has broken his silence on the ticketing chaos, saying that he was surprised by the high demand for tickets for these highly anticipated reunion shows.
“I thought it’d be a big deal, but I was a bit taken aback by just how much of a big deal it was", Gallagher said.
Elsewhere, the guitarist also revealed his favourite Oasis tracks, which may serve as a hint about what songs may feature on the upcoming setlist.
When asked which songs were his favourites, Gallagher said, “Can I have more than one? ‘Supersonic’, ‘Some Might Say’, ‘Live Forever’ and ‘Rock’n’Roll Star".
Back in February, Noel's brother and Oasis bandmate Liam Gallagher, had addressed the chaos, regarding the ticket sales for these shows.
Noel Gallagher was speaking to Cummins, for his new book, Oasis: The Masterplan, which was published last week, and is available here.
When asked by a fan on social media: “Liam what do you think of the ticket situation? Thinking fans are bots and getting their money returned?”, Liam Gallagher issued this response: “I don’t make the rules. We’re trying to do the right thing. It is what it is, I’m the singer. Get off my case". More on this from Nova here.
