The Oasis star recently appeared on an episode of the podcast 'talkSPORT Drive' and shared his opinions on the changes that the club are facing.
The news comes shortly after Ruben Amorim has been sacked as the clubs manager after a tense press conference earlier in the week. Amorim spoke about Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Leeds and called out the hierarchy in the club, which led to him being let go.
Midway through the season, the club now have to find a new manager. Some names being put in the mix for the next manager are Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner, former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, and Former England boss Gareth Southgate according to TalkSport.
When the show's host suggested that Aston Villa’s Unai Emery could take on the position, the Gallagher brother quickly shut it down stating that he was "living in the past."
“It used to be that job and players going there used to be the pinnacle in English football, right? It isn’t anymore, a player would be absolutely insane to go there,” Gallagher said.
Gallagher continued to discuss the current state of the club as he suggested that the whole club was in "ruins" and that the “only reason you would go there is for money”.
He then made a jab at the English rock band 'The Libertines' as he said that switching from Aston Villa to Man United would be “like asking me to leave Oasis and go and join The Libertines."
The Libertines reeled in huge success, similar to Oasis, in the 90's and early 2010's. However, the Oasis Live 25 took the success of the Gallagher brothers to another level.
Manchester United reeled in a similar amount of success during the same time period, although ESPN has noted that since then the club has seen varied results and has been on a decline since 2013.
Gallagher, who is a known Manchester City fan, went on to suggest that there is something "fundamentally wrong" with Manchester United. “There's something fundamentally wrong there and nobody seems to know what it is. I think United itself missed a trick when they didn't sell the club to the Qataris or whoever it was supposed to be," Gallagher said.
“The only way you can compete is with money these days. And if United aren't prepared to spend this, Jim Ratcliffe seems to be wanting to do it on a budget, and you're not going to get Man United back to where it wants to be on a budget, you cannot do it. You have to throw a lot of money at that club now," he continued.
