Noel Gallagher has praised his estranged brother and former Oasis bandmate Liam Gallagher in a new interview.

The former guitarist spoke to journalist John Robb about Liam in an interview ahead of the 30th anniversary of Oasis’ ‘Definitely Maybe’ next Friday (August 30). He has previously stated that this album defined Oasis as a band.

Noel and Liam Gallagher have been at each other’s throats since Oasis abruptly split up in 2009, which has since led to the pair being at loggerheads, and coming to blows.

“I don’t have the same attitude as him”

However despite their rocky relationship, Noel Gallagher was full of praise for Liam’s vocal abilities.

“I can’t sing ‘Slide Away’ and ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ and ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Star’ and ‘Columbia’ and all that”, he said.  “I mean I can do it but it’s not the same. It’s the delivery or the tone of his voice and the attitude. I don’t have the same attitude as him”.

Likening their voices to drinks, Noel Gallagher also added: “Liam’s is a shot of tequila, right, and mine’s half a Guinness. Mine’s half a Guinness on a Tuesday. It’s alright. Liam’s is ten shots of tequila on a fucking Friday night”.

When Robb joked “And you should never mix those two,” Gallagher replied: “No”.

‘Supersonic’

Reflecting on the time they recorded smash hit ‘Supersonic’, another track sung by Liam for their 1994 album, Noel revealed: “I sing ‘Supersonic’ with the same melody, the same words, the same inflexions, but when he sings it, it’s a bit more menacing”.

He also added: “When I would sing a song it would sound good, when he would sing it, it would sound great”.

Despite not being on the best of terms, Noel did also praise Liam’s current work.

“What he did was inspire the kids at the front to do something, do you know what I mean? ‘If he can do it I can do it’. And he’s still doing that now”, he said.

Earlier this month, Noel Gallagher also responded to a fan who asked him about a possible Oasis reunion. Find out more on this here.
