The owner of a missing eagle owl in Kildare says it could pose a threat to children.

The female European Eagle Owl - known as Owlington - has been missing from her Curragh Grange home since Friday.

There have been several sightings of the orange eyed bird in North Kildare today. An eagle owl claw can exert a force of 350kg of grip pressure.

The owls are the largest in the owl species and weigh nine times as much as the common barn owl.

Owner Darren Jackson is urging anyone who sees her to stay away and report the sighting to Gardai.
