Ozzy Osbourne has had to cancel the final No More Tours 2 shows due to a continuing medical issue with his hand. Osbourne stated in an official release, “I’m so fucking bummed about cancelling these shows. The tour had been going great, and we were really looking forward to these last few gigs.”
Gigs at Mountain View (Oct. 6), Chula Vista (Oct. 9) and Los Angeles, Calif. (Oct. 11), including a concert at Las Vegas (Oct. 13), will be rescheduled for 2019. Osbourne said to fans in a message, “We’re hoping everyone will be patient and we’ll look forward to seeing them at the shows next year.”
According to Ultimate Classic Rock, Sharon Osbourne said on The Talk that Ozzy’s infection was the result of a cut on his thumb that he then hit on a door. “[He] had a little cut on his thumb. You know when you pull the side of your nail and he just left it. And then he hit it on a door. It started to get bigger and bigger, and then his middle finger, the same thing happened … and Saturday morning we took him into the emergency room and what had happened from a tiny thing here on the side of his nail, it had turned into two different infections in his hand. He had to have this operation where they cut the side of his thumb and this [middle] finger and they had to get rid of the infection. It’s been from something you think is absolutely nothing. It’s unbelievable.”
The California shows had already been cancelled after an initial diagnosis. Osbourne was only meant to spend “a couple of days” at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles. Doctors have informed the Black Sabbath singer that his right hand will require more surgery as he fights multiple infections.
Fans have been advised to hang on to their tickets, as they will be honoured on the new dates. Refunds will be available at the point of purchase if desired. Osbourne has also said he will continue to perform live shows just globe-trotting jaunts.
“I’m not going on tour for six months at a time anymore,” Osbourne confirmed back in February. “I’d like to spend some time at home. … I just need to slow it down a little.”
