Paul McCartney is to release a new book, which will see him look back on the his time with Wings in the 1970s.

Wings were formed by McCartney on the back of the Beatles split, with the band founded in 1971. A week after they formed, the band released their self titled debut album, Ram, where he worked with his late wife Linda.

The book, Wings: The Story of a Band on The Run, will arrive on November 4 this year, and will include an in-depth personal account of McCartney's career post Beatles, as told by the man himself, along with key players and family members.

"very happy to be transported back"

Announcing his forthcoming project, Paul McCartney released this statement.

"I'm so very happy to be transported back to the time that was Wings and relive some of our madcap adventures through this book", he said. "Starting from scratch after The Beatles felt crazy at times. There were some very difficult moments and I often questioned my decision. But as we got better I thought, 'OK this is really good".

He added: "We proved Wings could be a really good band. To play to huge audiences in the same way The Beatles had and have an impact in a different way. It was a huge buzz".

Wings saw Paul McCartney work with co founder Denny Laine and drummer Denny Sewell, with the banding remaining in existence until 1981. In that time, they released seven studio albums, with four consecutive records reaching number one in the Billboard 200.

Back in December 2023, Paul McCartney paid tribute to Laine, who passed away aged 79.

“I have many fond memories of my time with Denny: from the early days when the Beatles toured with the Moody Blues. Our two bands had a lot of respect for each other and a lot of fun together", McCartney wrote. More on this from Nova here.

In more recent news, Paul McCartney's comments regarding the proposed copyright laws on the use of AI by the UK Government, were supported by fellow artist Elton John. More on this story here.
