Paul Simon has defied the odds, as he kicked off his 2025 North American Tour, despite previously retiring from touring amid hearing issues.

This tour which kicked in New Orleans last Friday, marked Simon's first headline shows in two years, despite rumours that he would never perform on stage again due to severe hearing issues.

Simons' 'A Quiet Celebration' tour saw him perform at the Saenger Performing Arts Theater, where he treated fans to some of his popular tunes, including 'Slip Slidin Away', 'Homeward Bound', and 'Graceland'.

Prior to this, Paul Simon had also played a run of songs from his recent album, 'Seven Psalms', while also being joined on stage by his wife Edie Brickell, for live covers of 'The Sacred Harp' and 'Wait'.

Closing out the set, Paul Simon also performed two major Simon & Garfunkel hits, 'The Boxer' and 'The Sound of Silence'.

See footage of this below.

Back in October, Paul Simon had refused to rule out performing live on stage again, despite these hearing issues.

"I'm hoping to eventually be able to do a full-length concert," Simon said in an interview at the time. "I'm optimistic. Six months ago I was pessimistic". More on this report from Nova here.

In other news, Paul Simon also explained his reasons behind not performing 'You Can Call Me Al' again. More on that here.
