Pearl Jam have announced a new publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group. They will be in charge of all of Pearl Jam's back catalogue as well as Eddie Vedder's solo work.
The recent news was announced by UMPG chairman/CEO Jody Gerson. Pearl Jam has sold over 60 million albums globally and five of their albums have reached the top of The Billlboard 200 in the US.
The band's most recent album was 2013's Lightning Bolt, which was released on their own Monkeywrench Records label through UMG worldwide. As a solo artist, lead singer Eddie Vedder has also released two widely acclaimed solo albums, Into The Wild and Ukulele Songs.
Speaking about the new deal UMPG CEO Jody Gerson said "It's been almost 25 years since Pearl Jam busted the door open of the 'club' that hosts a very exclusive group of artists. All they have done throughout their career is inspire and influence their fans throughout the world with incredible songs and a multitude of worthy causes. We are delighted that they have entrusted us with their amazing catalogue and couldn't be more excited to be a part of their evolving career that will endure for decades to come."
Also speaking about the new deal, Pearl Jam manager Kelly Curtis said "I'm thrilled to finally have a great partner that I can entrust with the legacy of the Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder catalogues. I'm excited for what lies ahead with UMPG."
