From next Monday around 750 pharmacies around the country will begin administering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to those aged 18-34 who have registered with their local pharmacy.
This will mean many in the younger age group will be vaccinated one to two months earlier than anticipated.
It comes after CMO Tony Holohan has warned that Ireland is on the cusp of a fourth wave of Covid-19 triggered by the highly infectious Delta variant.
