Phil Collins has hinted that he may be working on music for the first time in over two decades.

Collins has not released a new album since sharing Disney’s Brother Bear soundtrack in 2003.  The Genesis lead singer had released his last studio solo album a year earlier, with ‘Testify’.

Last year, Eric Clapton had shared a remake of Bob Dylan’s ‘Knockin On Heaven’s Door’, featuring Collins as a guest.

This track also featured on Collins’ live collection The Definite 24 Nights. More on this from Nova here.

Earlier that year, Collins’ former Genesis bandmate Mike Rutherford revealed that the drummer was “much more immobile that he used to be”.

Collins has had his fair share of health issues over the years, including a spinal injury causing him to suffer vertebrae damage to his upper neck, and nerve damage.

“full of wicked stories”

Despite these struggles, it would appear that Phil Collins is not quite done with making music yet.

Last night, record producer and journalist Simon Napier-Bell revealed that new music would be on the way from Collins.

Napier-Bell had spoken to Collins in an interview at his home in Switzerland for a new documentary about The Marquee Club.

The venue had closed down in 2008 after 50 years, having famously hosted the first ever live performance from the Rolling Stones.

Napier-Collins wrote that Collins was “in top form, full of wicked stories,” and “hugely fun”. He also revealed that Collins had recently had his studio revamped.

“For sure, before too long we’re going to hear some new music”, Napier-Bell added.

Back in 2022, Phil Collins and Genesis also sold their music back catalogue for £300 million.

Collins, along with bandmates Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford sold music rights to their group, as well as their individual projects to label Concord Music Group.
