Two Dublin men have been arrested after a fully loaded semi-automatic gun found in a vehicle in Westmeath.
Two Dublin men have been detained by Gardai after they discovered a fully loaded weapon in a car in the midlands.
Blanchardstown, Detective Gardai undertook out a policing operation on Tuesday morning. The investigation resulted in the arrest of the pair in Westmeath.
According to reports, a fully loaded semi-automatic Makorav handgun was found in the vehicle.
The two men were subsequently arrested with the help of the Emergency Response Unit in Rathowen, Co. Westmeath. A spokesman for Gardai said that:
“The two males are detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended at Blanchardstown and Finglas Garda Stations. Investigations are ongoing.”
