The Flaming Lips frontman, Wayne Coyne and long-standing partner Katy Weaver were wed on Saturday 5th of January. The marriage ceremony took place in downtown Oklahoma.
However, as it would be expected from the effervescent raconteur this was no ordinary wedding. The couple made their marriage vows inside a giant plastic bubble. The bubble has been a regular part of The Flaming Lips’ live shows.
The happy couple began seeing each other in 2012. The two were engaged in September, and in November, they announced they were expecting their first child together.
Coyne proudly announced on Instagram,
“Miss Katy @katyweaver and I were married in a glorious rooftop ceremony on the roof at @plentymercantile in downtown OKC!!!” “We ( Katy n Me with baby boy on the way !!) enter into this new year as a new family.”
Those who attended the wedding included fellow Lips bandmate Steven Drozd and Miley Cyrus, who has collaborated with The Flaming Lips and is a good friend of Weaver’s. Cyrus herself has just got married to actor Liam Hemsworth. More photos of the quirky wedding ceremony are below.
