Police in the North are blaming dissident republicans for the bomb attack in County Fermanagh this morning.
The explosion happened as police and an army bomb disposal unit were at the scene at Wattle Bridge close to Newtownbutler just after half past ten.
They were investigating another alert when the blast happened. No one was injured, but police say a number of officers are lucky to be alive.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar’s condemned this morning’s explosion, saying it could have had devastating consequences.
Deputy Chief Constable Stephen Martin from the Police Service of Northern Ireland says they have an idea who may be responsible.
The two dissident groups who have been most active this year are The Continuty IRA and The New IRA.
