An Irish rugby fan has allegedly been abducted and gang raped in France.
According to French media reports, a 37-year-old woman was attacked by three men last night near her accommodation in Bordeaux, where Ireland's opening Rugby World Cup match took place on Saturday.
She was taken to hospital in Bordeaux and has been referred to a victim support group.
Police are reportedly searching for the three men, while the Bordeaux public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation.
The attack is understood to have occurred around midnight on rue de la Rousselle in the heart of the city, close to where the woman was staying.
Gardaí say members currently deployed in France are liaising with local authorities in relation to "an alleged incident", adding that the investigation is a matter for the French police.
