Several political leaders have called out the “assassination attempt” made against former US President Donald Trump.

The Federal Bureau Investigation have confirmed that they are looking into this attempt made on Mr Trump’s life.

“This evening, we had what we are calling an assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump. It’s still an active crime scene”, said Kevin Rojeck, special agent from the FBI Pittsburgh field office during a press conference.

The former US President was shot after he had just taken to the stage at his final campaign rally in Pennsylvania, before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee next week.

Mr Trump was later rushed off the stage by the Secret Service, with blood running down his face.

Reporters have been told that the suspected shooter had climbed onto the roof of a low-rise building just outside the security perimeter with a rifle, moments before the incident happened.

Mr Trump had also revealed that a bullet had hit him on the upper hand of his ear.

He also shared his condolences to the crowd member who died, and the other person who was injured. The shooter was later confirmed dead, along with one bystander.

“There’s no place” – Political Leaders Call Out Trump Shooting

This violent attack made against Mr Trump has been met with strong criticism from political leaders on both sides, including current US President Joe Biden.

“There’s no place in America for this kind of violence. It’s sick. It’s sick. It’s one of the reasons why we have to unite this country… We cannot be like this, we cannot condone this”, Mr Biden told an emergency meeting at Rehoboth.

Joe Biden later posted this message via his official X account. Check that out here.

Elsewhere, Taoiseach Simon Harris also called the shooting against Donald Trump a heinous act of violence.

He also said that politicians must “dial down the rhetoric” when it comes to attacking opponents.

“Political violence must always be condemned and always be called out, and I must say it is quite alarming the rise that we’re seeing in political violence across the world. It’s only weeks since my Slovakian counterpart [Robert Fico] had an attempt on his life as well,”, Mr Harris said on the Sunday Politics Show on BBC Norther Ireland. See more here.

Despite this traumatic ordeal, Mr Trump is still expected to attend the Republican National Convention next week.
