According to the NME, Prince's estate has issued a cease and desist order to Donald Trump and The White House. The order is reported to stop the American President from using the late singer's song ‘Purple Rain’ at rallies.

Prince’s half-brother, Omarr Baker, said that the icon's estate has never given permission to The White House for the track to be used. Baker said in a statement, “The Prince Estate has never given permission to President Trump or the White House to use Prince’s songs and has requested that they cease all use immediately.”

This response comes after the President’s administration included Prince’s song in a campaign rally playlist for the November midterm elections. The song was used at a rally held in Mississippi last week, and as a result, Prince’s estate has responded.

Other musicians who have spoken out against their music being played at Republican rallies include The Rolling Stones, Adele, Queen, Aerosmith, R.E.M. and Neil Young.
