Pulp have confirmed plans to perform at a huge new festival in Japan next year.

The band will perform their first show of 2025 at Japan’s new Rockin’ On Sonic Festival, taking place at the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall in Chiba.

The festival which will take place between January 4 and 5 next year, will see Pulp headline the event, alongside Weezer.

Manic Street Preachers, Primal Scream, Wednesday and The Lemon Twigs will also perform at this festival, with the rest of the line up to be confirmed at a later date.

Tickets for this festival will go up on pre sale next Tuesday (August 20). You can buy them via this link here.

“back in the studio”

This announcement from Pulp also comes amid rumours that the band were working on new music.

It comes after frontman Jarvis Cocker was recently snapped in Walthamstow, seemingly wearing a bucket hat, and carrying an orange rough tote bag.

According to the people who took this photo, Cocker also allegedly said that the band were “back in the studio”.

Pulp Reunion

News of this festival comes after Pulp had returned for a set of reunion shows back in 2023.

These shows were originally confirmed by lead singer Jarvis Cocker during a Q&A session at the time.

He had previously posted a cryptic message on Instagram, showing the following words on screen, “What exactly do you do for an encore?”.

These words were also taken from a Pulp title track track from the album ‘This Is Hardcore’. Incidentally, this album reaches the 25th anniversary mark next year.

Explaining this, Cocker also added: “It’s a line from ‘This Is Hardcore’… next year Pulp are going to play some concerts!”.
